Organized a special eye camp
A special eye treatment camp was organized at ENRICH project office at Chowfaldandi union of Cox’s Bazar Sadar on 20th February 2024 under ENRICH programme which was jointly funded by PKSF and Mukti Cox’s Bazar. Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker, the Chief Executive of Mukti Cox’s Bazar; Mujibur Rahman, Chairman of Chowfaldandi Union Parishad; Md. Nashir Uddin, Member of UP were present in the opening session. In the opening session, Mr. Bimal Chandra Dey Sarker said that eliminating poverty and ensuring dignity in the society by fulfilling the basic needs of people have been the focus of Mukti Cox’s Bazar since the devastating cyclone in 1991. The Chairman highlighted that Mukti Cox’s Bazar with the joint efforts with PKSF has been implementing multi-dimensional development activities through the ENRICH programme in Chowfaldandi union. From the beginning of this program, hundreds of eye patients got treatment opportunities from this eye camp and poor patients had their cataracts removed by free of cost surgery. In addition to the Government’s development, Mukti Cox’s Bazar is playing a leading role in the development of this area for which he expressed his gratitude and hoped for the continuous wholehearted cooperation by local authority. His speech highlighted the diverse development activities conducted by Mukti Cox’s Bazar saying that eye camps are organized annually to treat poor patients. He also mentioned that 183 people have undergone cataract surgery and 30 people were about to be operated on that day. He expressed sincere thanks to Cox’s Bazar Baitush Sharaf Hospital authorities for their cooperation in organizing the eye camp. Ophthalmology specialist Dr. Md. Ilias Hossain, assisted by Field officers of Baytush Sharaf Eye Hospital, provided eye treatment service in that day-long eye camp. A total of 269 (male- 58 and female-211) patients received free eye treatment in this camp. 30 out of 260 patients were selected for cataract surgery and the surgeries were ongoing. All patients got free medicines. All the officials of the programme provided full support for organizing this camp.
