SLFS holds a workshop in Kutupalong
On 30th July 2025, a workshop titled "Joint Discussion on Identifying the Relationship between Innovation and Food Security Sector" was held at the Education Project Office located in Kutupalong under the SLFS project implemented by Mukti Cox's Bazar and funded by Oxfam in Bangladesh.
The workshop was presided over by Mr. Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Executive of Mukti Cox's Bazar, where Ukhia Upazila Agriculture Officer Kamanshis Sarkar was present as the Chief Guest, and Food Security Sector Focal Neyamul Akhter, and Senior Program Officer Shariful Islam, Oxfam in Bangladesh, were present as the Special Guests.
Other notable guests present included Project Manager of Mukti Cox's Bazar, Mr. Abdullah Al Mamun Shaheen; Camp-22 Livelihood Focal Mr. Gazi Rashedul Islam (YPSA), Camp-4 Livelihood Focal Mr. Ashraful Islam (CNRS), and Camp-19 Technical Officer Mr. Anwar Hossain (CARE).
In the workshop, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mr. Kamanshis Sarkar discussed the current adverse weather conditions and its challenges in the agricultural sector and its solutions, emphasizing the importance of cultivating high-value crops according to the season for the maximum benefit of the project participants.
Mr. Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Executive of Mukti Cox's Bazar, expressed his sincere thanks to the Upazila Agriculture Officer and the officials from other organizations for sparing their valuable time in attending the workshop. He called for the success of the project through cooperation and strengthening good relations with the sector. He also appreciated the Upazila Agriculture Officer's speech on climate-smart agriculture and emphasized on conducting all project activities while keeping the reputation of the organization intact.
Project Coordinator of SLFS, Mr. Md. Amdadul Haque Khokon, while presenting the project summary, said that under this ongoing project Mukti Cox's Bazar is playing a significant role in the livelihood of 1500 selected project participants in camps and host areas by distributing agricultural inputs (such as seeds and seedlings). He also described the future work plan to bring about positive changes in the agricultural sector through the use of climate-smart technologies.
Food Security Sector Focal, Neyamul Akhter, provided detailed information about the objectives and work methods of organizations currently working on livelihood and agriculture in the food security sector, and he informed everyone that a guideline will be published soon to further organize and modernize the agricultural sector.
In addition, important speeches were delivered by Senior Program Officer (Oxfam) Mr. Shariful Islam, YPSA Representative and Camp-22 Livelihood Focal Mr. Gazi Rashedul Islam.
