On 27 May 2025, an Inception meeting for the "Girls Get Equal 2.0 (GGE 2.0)" project implemented by Mukti Coxโs Bazar, with funding from Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and technical support from Plan International Bangladesh (PIB) was successfully held at Teknaf Upazila Conference Hall, Teknaf, Coxโs Bazar.ย
The event was honoured by the Chief Guest, Mr. Sheikh Ehsan Uddin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Teknaf, Coxโs Bazar; the President, Ms. Nilima Yasmin, Deputy Director (Project), PIB; the Special Guest, Mr. Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Executive, Mukti Coxโs Bazar.
The session began with an introductory speech by Mr. Nur Mohammad Ferdous Chowdhury (PIB), Program Specialist (SRHR) - GGE 2.0, who outlined the projectโs objectives, goals, donor agency, and operational framework. The event focussed on four key areas of the project, namely, (1) Integrated education (2) Sustainable youth development & employment (3) Sexual & reproductive health rights and (4) Creating a supportive community environment.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Mr. Sheikh Ehsan Uddin, addressed the socio-economic challenges in Teknaf, emphasizing the need for career counseling programs and community-sensitive approaches in development activities during the discussion. In addition, Upazila Assistant Youth Development Officer, Mr. Sohrab Hossain, prioritized the importance of careful selection of beneficiaries to enhance project impact. Mr. Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Executive of Mukti Coxโs Bazar, expressed his appreciation for the open discussions and emphasized the need for continuous efforts and collective collaboration to uphold the organization's legacy and reputation.
Ms. Nilima Yasmin, Deputy Director (Project), PIB, shared insights on Plan International Bangladeshโs upcoming sponsorship program in Teknaf focusing on education, livelihood development and reducing negative social impacts. The meeting was also attended by Mohammad Ullah, Upazila Secondary Education Officer; Md. Mohib Ullah, Representative of Upazila Women Affairs Officer; Abdul Jalil, Government Liaison Officer, PIB, along with Mr. Manzurul Alam, Project Coordinator, other key project members and development professionals, reinforcing a commitment to youth empowerment and sustainable development in the Upazila.
