Mukti Observes Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day-2026!
On 21 February 2026, Mukti Cox’s Bazar observed Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day-2026 with due respect and solemnity. The program included a procession and the laying of floral wreaths at the Cox’s Bazar Central Shaheed Minar, followed by a discussion meeting at the organization’s head office, Mukti Bhaban.
The discussion meeting was presided over by Deputy Chief Executive of Mukti Cox’s Bazar Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury, while, Founder President, and current Adviser of the organization Professor Someswar Chakravorty appeared as the Chief Guest; and Professor Shormin Siddika Lima, General Secretary of the Executive Committee, attended as the Special Guest. Advocate Shibu Lal Debdas, a prominent lawyer, former President, and current Adviser of the organization was present as the keynote speaker.
In their remarks, the speakers described 21st February as “a movement that shaped the identity of Bengali nation” and emphasized the spirit of Ekushey as a “far-reaching awakening of our language and literature.” They stressed the importance of using the Bangla language correctly in all spheres of life, both in spoken communication and written publications.
The keynote speaker encouraged everyone not only to learn Bangla properly but also to attain proficiency in other languages. He further urged attendees to promote the Bangla language and culture globally through proper practice and preservation of their mother tongue.
In his address, the Chief Guest called upon everyone to become eloquent and responsible users of language. He stated, “We must uphold the dignity of the language for which Salam, Rafiq, Jabbar, Barkat, and many other Bengalees sacrificed their lives. We can honor their sacrifice through accurate writing and standard spoken communication.”
Professor Shormin Siddika Lima, General Secretary of the Executive Committee, urged everyone to pay tribute to the glorious history of the Bengali Language Movement through the proper use of the Bangla language. She also called upon all stakeholders to continue supporting Mukti Cox’s Bazar in its efforts to serve humanity and promote social welfare.
Among others, remarks were delivered by Sujit Kumar Bhowmik (Director – Human Resources and Administration), Abdus Samad Azad (Director – Internal Audit and Compliance), Alok Kanti Sharma, Baby Bhattacharya, and more.
In his concluding speech, Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury, Deputy Chief Executive of Mukti Cox’s Bazar, expressed his gratitude to all the staff of Mukti Cox’s Bazar for their dedicated efforts in successfully organizing the event and for contributing to the observance of Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day-2026.
