International Women's Day-2026 Celebrated!
To mark International Women’s Day 2026 under the theme, "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls", Mukti Cox’s Bazar organized a vibrant celebration on 10 March 2026, at the conference room of its head office with the support of CARE Bangladesh.
The event was chaired by Bibi Halima, a staff member of Mukti Cox’s Bazar, and was attended by distinguished members and advisors of the organization’s Executive Committee, as well as representatives from CARE Bangladesh.
Speaking at the event, Bimal Chandra Dey Sarkar, Chief Executive of Mukti Cox’s Bazar, described International Women’s Day as a “social movement” aimed at ensuring women’s rights, dignity, and equal opportunities. Meanwhile, Advocate Shibu Lal Debdas, former President and current Advisor of the organization, called upon participants to work for the overall development of society, inspired by the pledge, “Everything I have is for the welfare of women.” Professor Jebunnesa, Vice President of the Executive Committee, emphasized that gender equality should be achieved to such an extent that the need to celebrate a separate Women’s Day eventually becomes unnecessary. Similarly, Professor Shormin Siddika Lima, General Secretary of the Executive Committee, highlighted the importance of women’s liberation and empowerment, stating, “If today’s inspiring words cannot touch you, then what kind of person are you?”
One of the most inspiring segments of the program featured personal stories shared by the organization’s female staff members. Some spoke about their journeys into motherhood, others about taking leading roles in family matters, while many reflected on the confidence and fulfillment gained through economic independence. Speakers in this session included Khaleda Nasrin, Rowaha Earuba Roha, Riku Dey, Bappi Das, Jhinu Das, Khing Khinu Rakhine, Sajia Afrin, Mumina, and several others. Their stories highlighted the challenges they had overcome and the positive transformations they experienced through building their own identities while working with Mukti Cox’s Bazar.
In addition, Razia Begum, a project-participant of Mukti, shared her experience of transforming her life through involvement in different livelihood initiatives supported by Mukti Cox’s Bazar. Fahmida Sultana, MHPSS Specialist, also conducted an informative session on self-care and mental well-being.
Representing CARE Bangladesh, Kaiser Rizvi (Head of Cox’s Bazar) and Bilkis Begum (Coordinator-Gender & Protection) emphasized the importance of women’s empowerment, education, health, economic participation, and inclusion in decision-making processes. They expressed their optimism that the ongoing initiatives of Mukti Cox’s Bazar and CARE Bangladesh aimed at promoting the protection, awareness, and empowerment of women and adolescent girls would continue in the future.
The event concluded in an inspiring and awareness-raising atmosphere, reinforcing the message of women’s empowerment and social equality and contributing to its wider dissemination within the community. The program was moderated by Anjuman Hossain (Manager – Training) and Sabina Yasmin (Center Supervisor) of Mukti Cox’s Bazar.
