A livelihood project implemented by Mukti Cox’s Bazar’s own fund
Mukti Cox’s Bazar (MCB) has been implementing a livelihood project from December 2022 titled “Develop the skill and improve food security of the Rohingya (FDMN)” people who are relocated from Cox’s Bazar. The project is being implemented by MCB’s own fund to establish food security and develop skill through livelihood activities for the Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals in Bhasanchar. Mukti Cox’s Bazar is implementing the project with three components like- Pond fish culture, Vegetable cultivation, and Sheep rearing through Rohingya volunteers for distributing to Rohingya people. Pond fish and vegetable seedlings have been distributed for cultivation among the FDMN people according to the approved cluster. During the implementation, Additional ARRRC, Navy officials, UNHCR, FAO and Chief Executive of Mukti Cox’s Bazar along with executive committee members frequently visited the project and appreciated the initiatives. The total project participants are 450 households and a total 2,250 people are indirectly benefiting from the project. Till June 2024, the project produced 200kgs of Tilapia fish, 290 kgs of Okras, 140kgs of Red Amaranth, 260 kgs of Ridge gourd, 190 kgs of Bottle gourd, 1000kgs of Sweet gourd, 120kgs of Indian spinach, 800kgs of Radish, 850 kgs of Tomato, 45kgs of Brinjal, 10kgs of Coriander and 50 kgs of Snake gourd and distributed those to the Rohingya people. Mukti Cox’s Bazar anticipated that the distributed pond fish and vegetables would have a significant contribution to meet their diversified food intake and add nutrition value. Mukti Cox’s Bazar will continue funding the project on its own.
