Theatre for Development in Action!
Theatre for Development (TFD) brings real-life issues into focus in a way people can see, feel, and discuss. In the Rohingya camps, it creates a space to reflect on sensitive topics such as domestic violence, early marriage, and drug abuse—turning everyday realities into stories that encourage awareness and dialogue.
On 16 February 2026, Mukti Cox’s Bazar conducted a TFD session at the football field of Camp-2W, Ukhiya, under the SASA! Together Action Phase of the GBViE Project, supported by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). A total of 100 participants, including Community Change Makers, Leaders, and community members, took part, with representation from women, men, adolescents, and persons with disabilities. The performance, led by trained community actors and attended by the Camp-in-Charge (CiC) and local stakeholders, used drama, songs, and facilitated discussion to engage the audience.
The impact went beyond the performance itself. Participants connected deeply with the stories, reflected on their own beliefs, and began to talk openly about change. It encouraged openness, challenged harmful norms, and reinforced the idea that change is possible when communities come together and start talking.
