Preventing Child Marriage Through Theatre!
Preventing Child Marriage Through Theatre!
From 20 November to 15 December 2025, Adolescents & Youth project, implemented by Mukti Cox’s Bazar with support from UNFPA, organized special theatre programs in Rohingya camps 1W, 11, 12, 13, 15, 19, 27, and Bhasan Char to raise awareness about child marriage. The initiative aimed to educate adolescents and their caregivers on why child marriage happens, its harmful effects, and its impact on girls’ education and future opportunities.
Through interactive performances, participants learned about lost opportunities due to child marriage and the importance of keeping girls in school. Organizers noted that such theatre activities boost confidence among adolescents and empower them to play a key role in preventing child marriage in their communities.
The events were attended by Camp In-Charges (CICs), staff, stakeholders, and project officials. The program was skillfully managed by Deputy Program Manager Md. Mirajul Islam and Technical Officer Suma Barua. The Chief guests encouraged participants to respect peers, promote gender equality, and make informed life decisions, while highlighting the importance of understanding rights and child marriage laws.
Through these efforts, Mukti Cox’s Bazar is committed to empowering Rohingya youth and building a stronger, more resilient community.
