Mukti holds meeting on mental health and suicide prevention
An awareness-raising discussion meeting on "Mental Health and Suicide Prevention" was held at Camp-4 on 3rd August 2025 under the Gender Based Violence in Emergency (GBViE) project of Mukti Cox's Bazar.
This important event, organized in collaboration with UNFPA, was attended by the Honorable Camp In-Charge (CIC) of Camp-4, Shuraiya Akhter Sweety and other officials from the CiC office, the Program Manager of the GBViE project, representatives from different organizations, and religious leaders and representatives of Camp-4.
The program, moderated by Fahmida Sultana (MHPSS Specialist of GBViE project), highlighted some key topics related to mental health, including - the common symptoms of mental health problems, what is suicide and important information about suicide, who is at risk of suicide, misconceptions about suicide in society, early warning signs of suicide, and how to help a suicidal person, etc.
Through this awareness program, the participants have increased their knowledge about mental health and have been inspired to play a more active role in suicide prevention. Suicide is a preventable, with the right compassion, caution and professional help at the right time. It is our responsibility to stand by people in psychological crises, listen to them, and guide them to the right path of help. Mukti Cox's Bazar strongly believes that by prioritizing mental health and raising awareness, we can build a compassionate and supportive society, where every life is precious.
