Camp Level Advocacy Workshop of “Our Light, Our Protection, Our Responsibility" Project Held
On 17 March 2025, a workdshop titled "Sustainable Lighting and Empowering Safety for Adolescent Girls and Women" under "Our Light, Our Protection, Our Responsibility" Project implemented by Mukti Cox’s Bazar was held at the CIC Office Conference Room of FDMN Rohingya Camp 04.
Project's achievements, challenges and prospects were discussed in this workshop. The main objective of this workshop, organized by Mukti Cox's Bazar with the technical assistance of Oxfam Bangladesh and funded by Oxfam GB, was to ensure the safety of adolescent girls and women by providing adequate and sustainable lighting solution in the community at night.
Soraiya Akhter Sweety, Camp In-Charge (CIC), Camp 4, was present at the event. Apart from that, Shema Biswas, Assistant Camp In-Charge; Syed Lutful Kabir Chowdhury - Deputy CEO, Mukti Cox's Bazar; and Hafizur Rahman - Team Leader, Protection Project, Oxfam also attended the event.
Gazi Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Project Coordinator, highlighted the progress of the project work. The workshop was attended by 02 female and 02 male trainees from the camp who were trained in solar light repairment and maintenance. Camp boatman, community leaders, volunteers and representatives of other humanitarian organizations attended the workshop. The camp boatman said that this light not only cuts through the darkness of the night, but also gives courage to the girls. They can now move safely at night.
Camp In-Charge, Soraiya Akhter Sweety, examined the participants' skills on the subjects they had learned by asking direct questions. She said that this project is not only about electricity, but also about security and building confidence in women and children, and it is the responsibility of everyone in this community to protect the lights. NGOs are working on the project, but the community itself must protect its own resources. He thanked Mukti Cox's Bazar, Oxfam and all the participants present.
