Dignity Kits Distributied to the survivors of SGBV and vulnerable women
From February 16 to February 19, 2025, a total of 700 dignity kits were successfully distributed to the survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and other vulnerable women and girls across seven unions of Ramu Upazila, including Garjania, Kacchapia, Kawarkhop, Rashidnagar, Chakmarkul, Rajarkul, and Khuniapalong.
This initiative was undertaken as part of the Lifting Healthy, Empowered, and Protected Girls and Women in Cox’s Bazar (LEAP) Project, implemented by Mukti Cox’s Bazar, funded by Global Affairs Canada, and supported by Plan International Bangladesh.
Each recipient received a comprehensive set of essential items tailored to support personal hygiene and daily needs such as Clothing & Comfort (2x Sarees, 1x Gamcha), Menstrual Hygiene (4x Packs of Sanitary Pads), Personal Care (1x Hair Oil, 1x Pair of Sandals, 4x Soaps, 2kg Detergent Powder), Hygiene & Sanitation (1L Antiseptic Liquid, 200ml Handwash), and Storage (1x Cargo Box for safe keeping of personal belongings). The distribution aimed to provide essential hygiene and personal care items to support women’s dignity, health, and well-being, particularly for those facing increased vulnerabilities due to SGBV, displacement, and socio-economic challenges.
The Dignity Kits Distribution Initiative under the LEAP Project was a significant step toward supporting survivors of SGBV and vulnerable women by providing them with essential hygiene and comfort items. Despite operational challenges, the successful distribution across seven unions reflects the commitment of Mukti Cox’s Bazar, Plan International Bangladesh, and Global Affairs Canada to empower and protect women and girls in Cox’s Bazar. Continued efforts will focus on strengthening follow-up supports and expanding future interventions to further address their needs.
