PRM Delegation Visits Mukti’s Learning Centers
On 20 January 2025, A delegation from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration (PRM) visited Bornomala Learning Clusters in Camp-2W to observe ongoing educational activities and engage with teachers and parents.
The delegation included Senior Program Officer for the Office of Assistance for East, South and Central Asia (EAP-SCA) Min Kang, Acting Refugee Coordinator Timothy Scherer and Refugee Assistant Isteak Ahammed, Education Manager of UNICEF Louise Leak, Education Officer Anika Tanjim Konoc and Project Coordinator of Mukti Cox’s Bazar Jannatul Ferdouse accompanied the team during the visit.
During the visit, the delegation observed “girls only” class activities of Grade-7 & 8 and interacted with learners, teachers and parents. The discussions highlighted the achievements of the learning program and explored challenges faced in providing quality education in the refugee context. Teachers shared their experiences in facilitating structured learning, while parents emphasized the importance of education for their children’s future. Min Kang praised the dedication and commitment of the teachers and staff in facilitating educational activities for the Rohingya community, acknowledging their vital role in ensuring access to quality learning opportunities.
The visit reinforced PRM’s continuous support for education initiatives in the camps in partnership with UNICEF and Mukti Cox’s Bazar.
